Yerba mate Yerbal Viejo Tradicional 500 g
A classic Argentinian yerba that perfectly reflects the typical flavours of the province of Misiones. It consists mainly of fairly coarsely cut leaves with some stems and a small amount of dust.
The Yerbal Viejo infusion has a medium level of intensity, but that does not mean it is a bland yerba - quite the opposite!
The first tests of this yerba took place in Budapest in 2021, and they are extremely fond memories. From the moment you open a pack of this Misiones classic, the beautifully cut leaf catches the eye. The aroma is not overly heavy or intense - rather hay-like, slightly grassy, cereal and nutty with a minimal smoky note.
From the first pours, the infusion is characterised by pleasant bitterness and astringency, strong cereal and nutty notes, a light sweetness and a minimally smoky finish. The puckering aftertaste spreads through the mouth for quite a long time and will not let you forget it.
The leaf withstands subsequent pours and keeps releasing flavour at the right level of intensity for a long time; in terms of energy it is rather solid, but not overly strong in this respect.
If you are a fan of Argentinian classics from small, even niche plantations with an eco-friendly mission, this product is definitely for you.
