Yerba mate Adelga Mate Naranja (orange) 500 g
Something for fans of fruity-herbal blends from the Adelga brand, of which we used to stock three versions - after the latest delivery there are now six.
Inside the pack you will find fairly coarsely cut leaves and some stems, with the added herbs also clearly visible: poleo, lemon verbena, peppermint and green tea. There is only a little dust, so it is easy to prepare. The dried leaf has a pleasant orange scent with tea and mint accents, without any sharp or smoky notes.
It is suitable for preparing both the traditional way, hot, and cold. It is undoubtedly aimed at all fans of Mate Amargo (bitter), whereas fans of Mate Dulce (sweet/sweetened) may be disappointed :)
The infusion tastes relatively mild, with very moderate bitterness and astringency and noticeable tea, mint, woody and hay-like accents. At first the taste of yerba dominates and the orange is very subtle. With each refill the orange flavour grows stronger and competes with the typical yerba notes. The result is a tasty and interesting option that can be a good alternative to the flavoured versions from brands such as Taragui, Amanda or Sinceridad.
Adelga Frutos Naranja is a moderately stimulating blend, and it definitely does well in terms of yield. The infusion holds up to refills for quite a long time, keeping its forest fruit flavour. An interesting option for anyone looking for unusual fruit blends.
