Yerba mate Selent Especial 500 g
A brand-new brand on the Polish yerba mate market, straight from Paraguay. One of four traditional versions, with no additives. This particular one is the Especial version, containing selected leaves with some stems and a small amount of dust. Which is certainly not a typical offering for this country.
Selent Especial differs significantly from typical Paraguayan options; it is neither smoky, heavy nor low-pitched in flavour. It is definitely closer to typically Argentinian flavours with a slight twist.
From the moment you open the pack, you can see that the cut is more Argentinian, and the scent of the yerba itself is also quite unusual. There are hay-like and grainy, nutty accents with a minimal hint of campfire smoke.
The infusion itself is pleasantly astringent and bitter, with hay-like, grainy and woody accents and a light smokiness. This combination makes it a very likeable yerba that will undoubtedly appeal to lovers of classic yerbas in unusual editions, and Selent Especial is certainly one of them.
It holds up to refills for a long time, and the infusion gradually gains strength, providing a solid energy boost for many hours.
