A classic yerba mate (erva mate) straight from Brazil, made of very finely ground mate.
Yerba mate Laranjeiras Chimarrão is a Brazilian mate made of 70% finely ground leaves and 30% thicker stems. Its flavour can be described as mild, fresh and slightly grassy. This is because this mate is neither smoked nor aged.
Laranjeiras Chimarrão 1 kg is a yerba mate that can only be prepared the Brazilian way, i.e. using the chimarrão method: pour the dried leaves into a large cup on one side, then pour previously cooled water into the empty space on the other side. Wait until the mate soaks up the water, then place a bombilla with a large, flat filter (bomba, chimarrão) in the cup, pushing the mate to one side so that the filter rests against the leaves, forming a so-called mound. Top everything up with water. It can be refilled many times until the flavour is completely washed out and the aroma is gone.
To prepare it properly, a bombilla with a flat filter with many small holes, called a bomba or chimarrão, is essential.
Erva mate Laranjeiras Chimarrão is a demanding yerba mate that will mainly appeal to experienced mate drinkers because of the way it is prepared. When prepared properly, it can be refilled many times without losing its flavour.
