Yerba mate Indega Pantano Limon 500 g

A new product from Indega that we have had our eye on for a long time! After the successful Siempre Vive and Kuna Guapa blends, it is time for the next one, Pantano Limon. This version comes with added herbs: lemongrass, koku, peppermint, lucero herb and lime flavouring. The leaves are cut in typical Paraguayan fashion, fairly finely ground with some stems and a moderate amount of dust.

The dry leaf itself smells intensely of lime, mint and herbs, and it certainly makes you want to prepare a serving straight away and try this Paraguayan blend. It is definitely a blend that works perfectly both hot and as refreshing terere on hot summer days. 

When prepared with a mound, it causes practically no problems with filtration and is pleasant to sip.
 
What flavours come through in the infusion?
 
Above all, a charming astringency and bitterness softened by the herbal additions and lime flavouring. In the infusion we can taste plenty of herbal and tea-like notes, and the lime flavour comes through nicely - overall it does not taste artificial and is very much like the natural taste of fruit squeezed directly onto the serving. 
 
Served hot, the bitterness and herbal flavour are of course stronger; served cold, it will certainly be more refreshing and more citrusy. In a way I see a similarity to the Kuna Guapa version, which tasted different hot and different as terere. 
 
After each sip it leaves a slightly astringent aftertaste on the tongue, and the citrus and tea notes are pronounced, which makes the blend remarkably rich and simply tasty. 
 
It provides a solid dose of energy, refreshes and puts you in a positive mood for action.
