Yerba mate Federal Tradicional 500 g
A new brand in our range, straight from Argentina. The classic version with no additives, naturally aged for 9 to 12 months. The brand's founders came to the province of Misiones in Argentina from Switzerland and began a wonderful story that continues to this day. Federal is a family business with a rich tradition dating back to 1924, which means over 100 years of experience in growing Paraguayan holly.
In the packaging, strongly inspired by the Argentinian flag, you will find large and medium-sized green-grey leaves with some stems and a moderate amount of dust. The leaves look very good and invite you to fill your gourd and pour quickly.
The scent of the dry leaves can be described as strongly woody, hay-like, grainy and nutty, lightly smoky and fairly intense. This promises a very good yerba in the traditional style - is that really the case?
The infusion is fairly distinctive from the start, dominated by woody, grainy and nutty notes, with plenty of astringency, solid bitterness, a drying sensation on the tongue, noticeable creaminess, minimal smokiness and a slightly salty finish. Over time it gains some strength and holds that level well through subsequent refills.
In terms of energy it is solid, and the leaves provide a proper boost for many hours of mate drinking. Federal Tradicional is therefore an excellent choice for fans of the Argentinian style.
