Yerba mate Federal Premium 500 g
A new brand in our range, straight from Argentina. A classic, coarsely cut yerba, naturally aged for 18 months. The brand's founders came to the province of Misiones in Argentina from Switzerland and began a wonderful story that continues to this day. Federal is a family business with a rich tradition dating back to 1924, which means over 100 years of experience in growing Paraguayan holly.
In the red and black Federal Premium pack you will find mainly coarsely cut, green-grey Paraguayan holly leaves with medium-sized stems and a small amount of dust. The leaves are beautifully cut and catch the eye, and both beginners and experienced yerba mate fans will have no trouble preparing it.
The dry leaves smell strongly woody, with plenty of grainy, nutty and hay-like notes; the aroma is fairly intense and lightly smoky. In this respect it is bolder than the Federal version and slightly weaker than the Barbacua version.
The flavour of the infusion is exceptionally good, with many interesting notes: woody, sunflower, walnut, hay-like and malty. There is a noticeable drying sensation on the tongue, plenty of bitterness and astringency, and light smokiness. There is also a light creaminess and tea-like notes.
Federal Premium holds up to many refills and provides a solid energy boost. It is undoubtedly a very good choice for fans of coarsely cut, classic Argentinian yerbas with no additives.
Three other versions from the Federal brand are also available: Barbacua, Tradicional and Suave.
