One of the most anticipated releases this year, available in an economical pack. Here is an outstanding yerba mate in the Argentinian style (standard), produced by the respected Brazilian brand Rei Verde.
Why were we so interested in this particular one? For a simple reason: we had already tried this wonderful version last year, when Rei Verde sent us a package that included, among others, the Argentina and Organica versions. Thanks to that, we had the pleasure of trying this classic variety many times - it will delight many a fan of Paraguayan holly.
Rei Verde Export Argentina is cut just as you would expect from that country: medium and coarsely cut leaves with an admixture of stems and a moderate amount of dust. The leaves smell very inviting, with grainy, nutty and woody notes, and the aroma is intense.
The flavours of the infusion are the true quintessence of Argentina. You will find pleasant bitterness, a mouth-drying aftertaste on the tongue, astringency, tea-like notes, light creaminess, smokiness and acidity, plus woody and grainy notes. One of the richest flavour bouquets we have come across among the many Argentinian varieties we have tried.
On top of that, it is very long-lasting and delivers a solid dose of energy. For us, this version has everything a classic Argentinian yerba should have. We will be reaching for it quite often, and we hope you will too, because it is worth it!
