Yerba Mate La Mulata Tradicional PU-1 500 g
A Uruguayan-style yerba that has been missing from the Polish yerba mate market for over a decade. We are very pleased to bring it back and give some of you the chance to try it again, or to try it for the first time.
La Mulata Tradicional is a classic Uruguayan-type yerba, i.e. Tipo PU-1. The La Mulata brand is easy to recognise by its distinctive logo featuring a woman.
As befits a yerba of this type, it has finely cut, grey-green leaves with a minimal amount of stems and a moderate amount of dust. To prepare it properly and enjoy its full flavour, you will need a well-filtering bombilla with a spoon filter, or a bomba. Of course, the traditional preparation (the so-called mound) is also recommended to avoid problems with the bombilla clogging.
When you open the pack, you are hit by plenty of interesting aromas, with hay, grain, grassy, seaweed and nettle notes. The scent is not overly heavy or intense, but very pleasant overall.
In the first infusions the brew is slightly bitter and moderately astringent, with a slightly drying feel on the tongue, and you will also notice grassy, wheaty, tea-like and nettle notes. The start is relatively mild and light, but don't be fooled, as the infusion definitely gains character over time.
After a few refills the intensity of the infusion increases, the bitterness becomes more pronounced, as does the overall astringency. Nettle and wheat notes also come to the fore. The overall impression is very positive, as the infusion offers many interesting notes and nuances, including a slightly sweet finish with a hint of roasted sunflower seeds.
La Mulata Tradicional is one of the very high-yield varieties and holds up for a long time through refills. It provides an above-average energy boost that lasts for hours, which makes it a very good choice for a demanding day, whether for physical or mental work.
