Opis produktu
Yerba Mate ISONDU Tradicional 500 g
The ISONDU brand is based in the town of Obera in the province of Misiones, in north-eastern Argentina, a region sometimes called the land of green gold.
ISONDU began as a group of small producers, descendants of European immigrants, and two agronomists who did everything they could to restore the social and cultural value of the traditional production method known as “barbacuá”.
This is the Tradicional version, with milder bitterness and smokiness than the Barbacua version we have offered so far. This is by no means a flaw of the product; it is simply aimed at people who prefer less smoky varieties. The mate is naturally aged for 24 months, during which it develops its character and interesting flavour notes.
Once you open the pack, the leaves themselves look so inviting that you want to pour them into your vessel straight away. Inside you will find coarsely and medium cut leaves with some stems and a minimal amount of dust. As soon as you open the pack, you will notice an aroma of forest and pine needles with a slight sharpness.
The infusion can be described as full-bodied, slightly tea-like and intense, with light smokiness and a nutty note. The pleasant bitterness is balanced by delicate sweetness and creaminess. There is also a slightly astringent feel on the tongue, moderate tartness and a rich flavour that lingers in the mouth, encouraging further infusions and sips of this delicious mate.
Isondu Tradicional is in a class of its own and can be considered a textbook example of a high-quality Argentinian mate with a rich flavour.
The mission of the ISONDU brand is to produce mate that is accessible to everyone and reflects the values, techniques and meticulous care typical of artisanal production. The mate is not certified organic, but it is produced organically. Many South American companies do not seek certification because it is extremely expensive, and they prefer to spend their resources on caring for the plants or improving working conditions for their employees.
The mate also comes in biodegradable packaging, for which the producer deserves respect for keeping the natural environment in mind.
