Yerba Mate Hierbas Silvestres Blend no. 4 "Modela" 500 g
The fourth option from the Hierbas Silvestres brand, with a rich and strongly herbal composition. This blend contains 60% Yerba mate plus chamomile, red tea, mint, hyssop, Incayuyo and bladderwrack.
Hierbas Silvestres "Modela" is the most aromatic of all four herbal blends and the least predictable, as the herbal accents unfold in a very interesting way. In this respect, I think it is even better than the recently tested "Vitalis" version, which I also liked a lot.
I also have a little theory that my taste buds simply got used to the intense chamomile flavour, which is why each subsequent test went better. But seriously: this is an excellent choice for anyone looking for unusual Yerba mate with a unique flavour, and this one certainly delivers. The blend has a beautiful, intense herbal aroma. In my opinion, it had the least chamomile flavour of all four, no doubt thanks to the red tea and mint, which add real variety to its taste.
It is hard to describe exactly what aroma and flavour "Modela" brings to mind, but the closest is probably a coniferous (Christmas tree) aroma and a grassy, herbal, tea-like taste that is hard to classify. I am curious what particular flavour it will remind you of. I could not quite figure it out and will certainly give it another try. A very mysterious and at the same time very interesting mate.
Hierbas Silvestres Blend no. 4 is rather moderate in terms of energy; in the evening it did not keep me particularly awake, but it was also a relatively small serving. In terms of flavour, however, it is something unique and hard to classify - a real yerba puzzle.
