Yerba mate Flor de Jardin Terere 500 g
A brand with Polish roots that appeared in our range at the end of 2023 with its Tradicional version. This time it is the turn of another version, something milder, namely Suave. Flor de Jardin, whose logo shows two small trees on a yellow background. Interestingly, the brand's history goes back to 1973 and is partly connected with Poland, thanks to the Czajowski family, one of the founding families of the Flor de Jardin cooperative.
This version is designed for terere, i.e. prepared with cold water, ideally with ice cubes. That said, there is nothing to stop you drinking it the traditional way, hot.
Inside the pack you will find a very varied cut: coarsely cut leaves as well as medium and more finely ground pieces, plus fairly large stems and a moderate amount of dust. The producer used a slightly larger bag so the leaves do not break too easily, so it looks like a bigger pack, but of course it contains the standard 500 g.
Once opened, Flor de Jardin Terere has a relatively bold aroma dominated by woody and earthy notes, with tea-like, grassy and grainy accents.
The infusion itself is fairly light and mild at first, but after just two or three pours its intensity and the noticeable nuances increase significantly. The infusion is strongly woody, fairly tart and bitter, grainy and nutty, hay-like, broken up by a slight smokiness and creaminess. You will also find tea-like notes reminiscent of black tea.
It is undoubtedly quite a surprising yerba that we really liked, and we warmly recommend it both hot and cold. It guarantees many hours of drinking and a solid energy boost.
