Yerba Mate Elacy Padrao Uruguay PU-1 500 g
A new Uruguayan-style yerba from the Brazilian brand Elacy, which debuts in our wide yerba mate range in 2026. This is the traditional version without additives, containing mainly finely cut Paraguayan holly leaves with a small amount of stems and a moderate amount of dust.
This is the brand's third yerba style: we already have terere and chimarrao, and now it's time for something completely different. The yerba undergoes natural ageing, during which its deep green colour gradually turns greenish-grey, and its aroma and flavour change too. Uruguayan-style yerbas are among the highest-yield varieties and easily stand up to repeated refills. Just remember the classic preparation method, i.e. the so-called mound. It guarantees many hours of mate drinking and proper filtering of the yerba.
Elacy Padrao Uruguay smells fairly intense, with grassy, grainy, hay-like, nettle and tea-like notes. In this respect it resembles other well-known yerbas in this style, such as Libre or Pindare.
The infusion is a touch milder at first, but over time it becomes solid and bold, with plenty of nettle, tea-like and grainy notes. Add to that a creamy infusion combined with solid bitterness and astringency and a slightly salty finish. Later pours bring out the main flavour notes, making the yerba a real pleasure to drink.
The yerba is very high-yield and holds up to refills for a long time, delivering a solid energy boost for many hours. Elacy in the Uruguayan style is a very good option for fans of this style, especially those who enjoyed yerbas such as Pindare, Libre or Mate Parana Tropeira.
