This could be a real bullseye. Here is another Paraguayan rarity from a niche plantation that grows our favourite herb in a completely natural way. No pesticides or artificial plant protection products are used in the production process. Add to that natural ageing and a traditional drying method, and the result is an above-average yerba.
When you open the pack, you are hit by a fairly intense scent which personally reminds me of a campfire: you can sense smoky, slightly hay-like and woody aromas and gentle smokiness. It is undoubtedly an aroma that draws you in and promises above-average taste and strength.
El Legendario features a varied cut: you will find slightly more coarsely ground leaves as well as smaller pieces, with an admixture of medium-sized stems. The amount of dust is moderate.
From the first pour and the first sip, this yerba delights. The taste is intense almost immediately, which is not always the case with craft yerba mate. El Legendario definitely does not need time to spread its wings and delivers amazing taste sensations. The infusion is bitter, astringent, smoky, lightly smoked and slightly salty. Add to that woody, grainy and slightly nutty notes.
The richness of varied flavours lasts a long time, so the infusion treats your taste buds to exceptional sensations over many hours of mate drinking. The reason is simple: this is an exquisite Paraguayan yerba that every fan of the Paraguayan style must taste. You can feel the passion for the product that the producers put into every stage of cultivation and production.
