Yerba mate As de Bastos European Quality 500 g
An Argentinian offering from the province of Misiones, made for the European market. According to the producer, it is a smoke-free product, known as sin humo or libre de humo.
The packaging features the brand logo with a playing card, specifically the ace of clubs. The pack is heat-sealed in two places so that the leaves retain their intense aroma and flavour. When opened, it reveals fairly coarsely cut leaves with large leaf pieces, some medium-sized stems and a small amount of dust.
Inside, the pack has a fairly light aroma: fresh, hay-like, gently grainy and grassy, with a delicate nutty note. It is therefore rather a choice for fans of light, pleasant flavours and lovers of sin humo products.
The As de Bastos European Quality infusion offers a light, gentle bitterness, little astringency, noticeable acidity and a delicate saltiness. In the background there are grainy, slightly grassy and roasted sunflower seed notes. This combination will undoubtedly satisfy fans of classic, moderately intense blends as well as people just starting their adventure with yerba mate.
The leaves release their flavour for quite a long time, but the infusion is not overly intense and does not deliver a particularly strong energy boost. This means you can safely reach for this version of As de Bastos even later in the day or on a less demanding day.
