Another new Argentinian option in our shop, with a very interesting, rather unusual flavour.
The Aky Bajo Monte leaves are a fairly intense green with a slight touch of grey, which gives them a remarkably fresh smell. When you open the pack, the aroma brings to mind nettle, tea, hay and woody notes. In taste it somewhat resembles Taihang and Barao Padrao Argentina.
The pack contains coarsely and medium-cut leaves with some stems and a small amount of dust. The leaves certainly look very photogenic, so everything checks out. But what about the taste?
From the first pour, the infusion is highly intense, and it can maintain this for many hours of mate drinking, providing an above-average energy boost.
From the start, the bitterness and astringency are clearly noticeable and quite pronounced. Add to that tea, nettle, woody, hay and grainy notes. There is also a light creaminess, a drying sensation on the tongue and a minimal saltiness on the finish.
The leaves keep a high level of intensity with subsequent pours; without a doubt this is an excellent option that can match Ivu or Porongo in terms of taste, yield and strength.
We warmly recommend trying this new option from Argentina, because Aky Bajo Monte does not disappoint!
