A high-quality Brazilian chimarrao-type erva mate from the EMP (Erva Mate Parana) brand, made of beautifully green, very finely ground mate and medium-sized stems. Importantly, the mate is vacuum-packed, so it keeps its wonderful flavour and aroma for a long time.
Erva Mate Parana Chimarrao is a Brazilian mate made of finely ground leaves and medium-sized stems. Its flavour can be described as creamy and grassy with a light bitterness, and its aroma as mild and vegetal. This is because this mate is neither smoked nor aged. Like every chimarrao-type mate, it requires special preparation. It lasts a very long time: with a properly built mound it can be refilled at least a dozen or so, and even several dozen times. As for the preparation methods themselves, according to the chimarrao school in Brazil there are officially more than 30 of them.
EMP Chimarrao Vacuum is a yerba mate that can only be prepared the Brazilian way, for example with the invertido method or using a mound. The latter makes the leaves last longer, but takes more work: pour the leaves into one side of a large gourd and fill the empty space on the other side with water that has been cooled beforehand. Wait until the mate soaks up the water, then place a bombilla with a large, flat filter (bomba) in the gourd, pushing the mate to one side so that the filter rests against the leaves, which form a stable mound and let you enjoy the flavour of Brazilian chimarrao. Then top up with water. It can be refilled at least a dozen times, until the flavour is completely washed out and the aroma is gone.
The Erva Mate Parana brand is a small family business that grows and produces yerba mate. Its products have rarely been available in Poland until now, so it is worth taking the opportunity to try this excellent product, made with passion and love.
The producer recommends storing the erva in an airtight container in the fridge after opening, so that it keeps its beautiful colour and aroma as long as possible. Stored the usual way, it will quickly lose its brilliance.
