Erva Mate Chimarrao Lago Verde Nativa Vacuum 1000 g
One of the best yerba mates (erva mate) straight from Brazil, in a vacuum pack, made of very finely ground leaves with the addition of sizeable pieces of stems. Thanks to the vacuum packaging and no ageing process, this erva has a deep green colour and an intense aroma. Alongside Putinguense, it is the absolute top among Brazilian chimarraos.
The name of this yerba literally means "green lake"; the package shows a lake surrounded by a green outline shaped like a leaf.
When you open the pack, the aroma is remarkably bold and intense, dominated mainly by plant-like, nettle and tea-like notes.
The taste of Lago Verde can be described as fresh and at the same time substantial, with pleasant bitterness, moderate tartness and interesting notes. Plant-like, nettle and tea-like flavours come through strongly, along with sweetness. The intense green colour of the leaves comes from the fact that this mate does not undergo smoking or ageing. Although it contains the leaves mentioned above, it still needs to be prepared in the same way as any Chimarrao-type mate. Adding them to the blend strengthens the plant-like, almost creamy taste and its intensity. It also makes the yield slightly lower, but it still gives far more refills than a standard mate - in this case around 10-20 refills with a properly prepared mound.
It provides a very solid dose of energy and is remarkably long-lasting, practically resistant to repeated refills. It is definitely a choice that every chima fan who values high quality should reach for. We warmly recommend it!
Lago Verde Chimarrao is a yerba (erva) mate that can only be prepared the Brazilian way, i.e. using the mound method: pour the leaves into a large vessel on one side, then fill the empty space on the other side with water that has been cooled beforehand. Wait until the mate soaks up the water, then place a bombilla with a large, flat filter (bomba) in the vessel, pushing the mate to one side so that its filter rests against the leaves, which form a stable mound and let you enjoy the taste of Brazilian chimarrao. Top it all up with water. It can be refilled many times, until the flavour is completely washed out and the aroma is gone.
