Opis produktu
Yerba Mate Titrayju Barbacua 500 g
An Argentine product previously unavailable in Poland. Thanks to our efforts we managed to bring it in, and now it's available to you too. What is so special about this mate? The awareness behind a product grown organically with respect for nature. An example of an organic mate without certification. Aged naturally for at least 12 months.
As you'll admit, Titrayju has a name that is rather hard to pronounce. Where does it come from? It comes from 3 words, tierra, trabajo and justicio, meaning land, work and justice. Combining selected syllables of these words gives Ti-tra-y-ju. Simple? Of course!
The brand itself has been successfully on the market since 1971. It brings together small family businesses focused on natural cultivation, free from pesticides and plant protection products. The result is an excellent mate that we can safely call artisanal yerba.
Titrayju Elaborada is dried using the Barbacua method, which means the Paraguayan holly is exposed to high temperature from a lit fire/furnace to stop the oxidation of the leaves and preserve their beautiful, vivid green colour. Which it undoubtedly succeeds in doing!
After opening the pack we see fairly finely cut leaves, more coarsely cut stems and quite a lot of dust. And what about the aroma? We can smell freshness, hay, herbaceous and woody notes with a light smokiness that doesn't sting the nose. Sounds tempting, so it's time to taste. After the first infusion with cooler water (up to 50 degrees Celsius) we can be sure the mate will be very long-lasting. We don't recommend a first infusion with water above this temperature, as we may scald the leaves, and we wouldn't want that.
With each subsequent infusion the bitterness of the infusion grows in intensity, and a delicate astringency and smokiness come through. Beyond that, you can expect minimal sweetness and nutty or marzipan notes. Quite a tasty combination, wouldn't you agree? Add to this an above-average stimulating kick. For an Argentine mate it is truly excellent in this respect.
Our tests of Titrayju went very well, in line with expectations and opinions about this brand. Due to the fairly high degree of grinding and its intensity, we recommend it rather to more experienced mate drinkers. Worth trying: after a few sips you'll feel as if you were on a Paraguayan holly plantation in Misiones. Top-shelf yerba mate, simply Titrayju.
