A Brazilian yerba (erva) mate intended for drinking cold as refreshing terere, with a pronounced pineapple flavour.
Yerba mate Rei Verde Terere Pineapple contains finely cut yerba mate leaves, a large amount of coarsely cut stems that make filtering the infusion easier, a moderate amount of dust, and additions: dried pineapple flakes, pineapple flavouring and sugar.
With the classic preparation method, i.e. the so-called mound, preparing it will cause you no trouble at all and will let you enjoy the taste straight from the matero for a long time.
Rei Verde Terere is an interesting choice, as the pineapple flavour is quite pronounced and significantly softens the yerba bitterness - not only because of the added flavouring, but above all thanks to the dried pineapple flakes. The infusion is also quite sweet due to the added sugar. In terms of energy it is moderate, while in terms of yield you can keep refilling it for hours, enjoying its refreshing effect.
It tastes great with ice cubes, and it can just as well be topped up with chilled fruit juices (lemon, orange, etc.) instead of water. The sour taste then makes an interesting contrast with the light sweetness of the infusion. It is worth experimenting and looking for interesting combinations. Pouring chilled milk or a plant-based drink (e.g. coconut) over the leaves is just as interesting - the result is a yerba pina colada. If you are looking for a fruity yerba with almost no bitterness, you have come to the right place.
