Yerba mate Meta Mate Leafy Melody "Bolzani" Barbacua 500 g - harvest 09.2025

A new edition of one of the best - if not the best - yerbas from the Meta Mate brand: Leafy Melody. The harvest dates from September 2025, and the leaves are produced by the Bolzani family. It is the second batch from this family in our range. The previous one came from May 2025 and attracted a lot of interest.
It returns to our range after quite a long absence, so expectations for it are high. It comes in a 500 g pack, tightly heat-sealed to preserve the full flavour and aroma of its contents. Unlike the previous version, it is not vacuum-packed.
It is undoubtedly one of a kind, with a very distinctive, even intriguing flavour and aroma. Meta Mate Leafy Melody is an artisanal product harvested at full moon, when the Paraguayan holly is at its richest in nutrients.
Drying is done using traditional methods and carefully selected types of wood, which give it its characteristic smoked aroma and flavour. When you open the pack, you are hit by a strong smoky scent, which will remind some of smoked fish and others of smoked bacon or paprika. The aroma is extremely intense and long-lasting, and it certainly tempts you to fill your cup quickly and taste this yerba.
Once the pack is open, you see leaves of quite varied cut: there are both coarsely cut leaves and smaller pieces, and the same goes for the stems - long, thicker pieces as well as medium-sized ones. The amount of dust is moderate; it will not be any obstacle and only adds character to the yerba.
From the first infusions the brew is robust and rich in flavour, dominated by a strongly smoked taste reminiscent of smoked fish or bacon. Add to that a pronounced but not excessive bitterness and astringency. There is also a lot going on in the background: notes of (black) tea, nuts, a slight saltiness and grassy hints.
Over time the smoky taste changes character somewhat and the creaminess (sweetness) comes forward, making it more reminiscent of smoked paprika. This is undoubtedly high-quality yerba, as it easily withstands successive infusions, providing the energy you need and delighting your taste buds.
Because of its noticeable salty notes, it reminds us to some extent of Origen Barbacua - with differences, of course, in origin and the colour of the leaves.
Leafy Melody Bolzani is a very successful Barbacua that guarantees mate drinking at the highest level and a solid energy kick for many hours. A must-try for experienced mate drinkers who love strong, bold or smoky flavours.
