A vivid green option from Brazil, courtesy of the Meta Mate brand, in a limited edition. Here you get a hermetically sealed pack of coarsely chopped, intensely green leaves with some stems. There is practically no dust at all, which will please fans of coarser cuts who avoid the finely ground varieties.
After opening the pack of Meta Mate version 23, with its characteristic sound, you notice a fairly delicate aroma: fresh, slightly grassy and herbaceous. All in all, very mild and pleasant.
This is partly because it is a hot-air-dried version, which is reflected in the aroma mentioned above as well as in the taste. The infusion gains strength, power and intensity with each refill. At first it is light, grassy, slightly astringent and only mildly bitter, with tea-like notes and a puckering aftertaste on the tongue. There is also a delicate sweetness; over time the bitterness and astringency become more noticeable than in the first 2 refills. It is one of those yerbas whose flavour evolves over successive infusions, which shows that the pack contains a high-quality product.
In terms of yield, it is definitely a long-lasting version that promises hours of mate drinking. It is also excellent in terms of energy, as the infusion delivers an above-average boost.
