Something lovers of Paraguayan yerba mate truly appreciate. This new release from the Paraguayan brand Mbaeteko is an extremely intense and bold blend, aimed rather at fans of varieties with a deep, smoky infusion.
Mbaeteko Tradicional consists of finely ground leaves, small pieces of stems and a large amount of dust. What does that mean? An above-average energy boost and a highly intense infusion - exactly what many people value in Paraguayan mate. Brewed hot, the bitterness is pronounced, with astringency and a high level of smokiness. Prepared cold as refreshing terere, the intensity of the infusion drops noticeably, but the energising effect stays high.
Until now this brand has not been available in Poland, which is a pity, because Mbaeteko in this classic version is a very good choice that will satisfy anyone looking for intense, bold varieties. Let us hope other yerba mate varieties from this Paraguayan company will soon join our range as well.
It is not really a choice for those just starting out with yerba mate - the high intensity and bitterness may quickly put them off exploring the world of yerba any further. However, those who are not afraid of bitterness will surely enjoy it.
