A yerba from Brazil by Laranjeiras, made for drinking cold as a refreshing terere. According to the producer, it is a remarkably stimulating version that will quickly get you back on your feet and give you the energy you need.
Yerba mate Laranjeiras Terere Energetico contains mainly fairly coarsely cut leaves, an admixture of stems and guarana and raspberry flavourings. Because of this combination, the taste of the infusion quite clearly brings energy drinks to mind.
The infusion tastes relatively mild, the bitterness is not overly intense and there are no smoky notes. Laranjeiras Terere Energetico is instead characterised by delicate tartness and sweetness from the flavourings used. Given its character, it tastes better cold with ice cubes. We recommend using water as cold as possible to get the full refreshing effect.
There is nothing to stop you from pouring fruit juice over the leaves, but in that case remember not to use natural vessels (e.g. gourd or wooden ones). For this purpose we recommend ceramic, glass or stainless steel vessels.
Laranjeiras Energetico is an interesting break from classic flavours, and a choice for fans of terere, guarana and its combination with yerba mate. Try it and judge for yourself!
