Yerba Mate Fortuna Tradicional 500 g
A brand-new Paraguayan brand in our range, with a history going back to 1975 and continuing to this day. Nearly 50 years of experience in growing and producing yerba mate shows that they know Paraguayan holly like few others. Otherwise their yerbas would not have won the recognition of Paraguayan consumers.
The only traditional version in their range, without additives, which will surely interest fans of the Paraguayan style.
The Fortuna brand will be available exclusively in our shop, and its range includes four herbal or herbal-fruit blends and the traditional option described here.
The fifth option is the Tradicional version, a classic Paraguayan yerba mate without additives, made of fairly finely cut leaves with an admixture of stems and a considerable amount of dust.
When you open the pack, you are hit by a fairly sharp aroma reminiscent of pine or eucalyptus. There are also smoky, woody and slightly earthy notes. The scent is quite intriguing because of that main note - all that is left is to prepare a serving and find out about the taste and effect of this yerba from Fortuna.
The yerba itself has a fairly intense green colour for a Paraguayan yerba, which is usually more greyish-green than bright green as in this case.
From the first sip you can taste that distinctive pine (eucalyptus) aftertaste; the infusion is slightly smoky, fairly earthy and astringent. Bitterness also makes itself known, along with slightly nutty notes and a hint of grassiness. For a Paraguayan yerba, the infusion is not overly smoky or heavy, which will surely interest lovers of classic options in the yerba world.
Thanks to the fairly fine grind, the yerba is very easy to form into a slope, which lets you get the most flavour out of the infusion, so we definitely recommend this traditional method of preparation, here as in every case.
With further refills the infusion becomes a little more intense, and a salty note also appears. In this way Fortuna Tradicional combines flavours in an interesting way, as it is to some extent a mix of flavours typical of Paraguay, but it also has Argentinian (grainy notes) and Uruguayan (vegetal or grassy notes and saltiness) accents.
The taste and aroma of the infusion are intriguing, and this is essentially the first Paraguayan option of this kind on our market with such a distinctive pine note.
Fortuna Tradicional provides a solid dose of energy, and the yerba withstands refills for quite a long time, gradually releasing its flavour - in other words, it is long-lasting.
