Opis produktu
Yerba Mate Fede Rico Anis (aniseed) 500 g
One of six blends from the FD (Fede Rico) brand, produced by Rio Itambey in Paraguay and available since Q4 2020. It contains fairly finely ground leaves and stems of Paraguayan holly, complemented by anise and aniseed flavouring. On top of that, as befits a Paraguayan variety, it contains quite a lot of dust.
What can be said about this mate? It is certainly remarkably long-lasting! During testing, a standard serving of about 50 g was topped up with 1.5 l of water and the flavour was still noticeable. What else? It is certainly very pleasant, with noticeable bitterness and astringency working well with the aniseed note.
We can't fail to mention its stimulating effect, which is at a very good, high level, as befits a mate from FD. After 2-3 infusions you can expect a solid dose of energy.
Yerba mate with anise? Nothing to be afraid of!
Many people are wary of combining yerba mate and anise. In this variety anise is not the leading flavour, and that's a good thing, because an overly intense aniseed taste and aroma would upset the balance of flavour and, as a result, the overall impression of the infusion. What we get is a well-matched trio of astringency, bitterness and an aniseed aftertaste. Of course, you will also notice smoky notes, as befits a Paraguayan mate.
The added anise is more noticeable as a scent right after opening the pack than after brewing. Which doesn't mean you can't taste it! As we mentioned earlier, its presence is not overdone, which makes the infusion refined and herbal.
Fede Rico Anis is a choice for those curious about new flavours and for anise lovers. We also recommend it to all fans of Paraguayan mate and to anyone looking for varieties with a solid stimulating kick. They won't be disappointed.
