Yerba mate Del Cebador Compuesta 500 g
We head to Brazil to try an excellent herbal Uruguayan-style yerba mate from the respected brand Del Cebador. Until now, the brand offered only two classic versions in various pack sizes. This time it is a strongly herbal blend.
It contains 7 herbs: lemongrass, anise, fennel, chamomile, carqueja, star anise and green tea. This combination gives the leaves an exceptionally interesting aroma with noticeable hints of anise, tea and citrus.
What does the inside of a del Cebador Compuesta pack look like?
As befits the Uruguayan style, the leaves are cut quite finely, with a small admixture of fine stems, quite a lot of dust and the herbal additions mentioned above, visible to the naked eye.
The infusion is intense, with fairly pronounced bitterness, noticeable astringency, grassiness, light sweetness (creaminess) and a solid anise accent with a citrus-and-tea finish.
Given this mix of flavours, it can be placed between FD Anis and el Moncayo - which is undoubtedly a compliment for this new release from del Cebador. It holds its flavour for a long time, is long-lasting and delivers a fairly solid dose of energy.
It is definitely something every fan of the Uruguayan style should try at least once. We recommend it!
We recommend drinking it with the Purinox bombilla by Rei Verde or a similar one with a fairly large filter that makes filtering easier. Spring-type bombillas may have some trouble filtering it properly.
