Opis produktu
Yerba Mate Cuatro Caminos Tradicional 500 g
An excellent yerba mate from Misiones province in Argentina, produced in harmony with nature, conventionally, by a family business. The brand's history goes back to 1969, when Gustavo Bjorklund bought the first mate drying machine. Since 1988 the company has been successfully run by Gustavo's son, Klas Ruben.
Cuatro Caminos puts great emphasis on the quality of its product, and the production process includes a 2-year break in harvesting from a given plant, so that it has time to regenerate in a completely natural way. Thanks to improvements to the production process in 2008, the mate produced by Cuatro Caminos can be described as sin humo, i.e. smoke-free. It is dried with hot air, which is visible, for example, in the deep green colour of the leaves - much more intense than in other Argentinian mates.
This is the second option - unlike the Organica version, it is not certified, hence the lower price. Nevertheless, it can still be considered a craft product made on a small scale.
It comes in a paper package containing the aromatic dried leaves. This way the producer also takes care of the environment by using biodegradable packaging.
The aroma of the dry Cuatro Caminos Tradicional can be described as fresh, light, grainy and nutty. There are no smoky notes. In the taste, you will find bitterness that grows in strength and intensity as the water temperature rises. There is also a light tartness, an astringent aftertaste on the tongue, and grainy, malty and nutty notes in the background.
The package contains mainly fairly coarsely cut leaves with an admixture of more finely ground ones, plus some stems. The amount of dust in Cuatro Caminos is minimal - certainly good news for anyone who prefers less dusty varieties of Paraguayan holly.
It performs very well in terms of yield, holding its flavour for a long time through subsequent refills. In terms of energy, it is moderately stimulating. It is fair to say it fits perfectly among the Argentinian classics and can be recommended to those who enjoy relatively light and mild varieties with interesting notes in the background. We recommend it!
