Yerba Mate CBSe Mango Picante (spicy mango) 250 g
One of two new limited-edition releases from the Argentinian brand CBSe. This one is a yerba flavoured with spicy mango. You have to admit, it is a rather unusual combination, isn't it?
CBSe Mango Picante contains medium-sized leaves and stems of Paraguayan holly and a moderate amount of dust - a cut fairly typical of Argentina. The aroma of the dry leaves, however, is highly unusual.
In the aroma you will pick up mango and a slight peppery heat, along with typical grain, nutty and woody accents and hay notes.
The first infusions are quite intense, with a clearly noticeable mango flavour and a slightly hot finish with a hint of spice. The infusion is not dominated by mango - there is a good yerba bitterness and astringency, plus grain, nutty and woody accents. The mango flavour does not add sweetness to the brew; I would rather compare the mango taste in the infusion to a slightly overripe fruit.
If you expect strong sweetness and heat, you certainly will not find them here. We had serious doubts about these two unusual new releases from CBSe, but the spicy mango is without doubt a yerba worth your attention. Of course, it is not a yerba for everyday drinking, but rather a break from the usual flavours.
It tastes good with ice cubes or prepared with cold, even ice-cold water.
The CBSe Mango Picante infusion provides a moderate dose of energy and offers a decent yield; the mango aroma lasts longer than the peppery heat. If you are looking for a blend with an extravagant flavour, this one is for you!
The second release is even more surprising - it is flavoured like Dubai chocolate. Unlike the products in the regular range, this limited edition in two flavours comes in smaller 250 g packs.
