An excellent, strongly herbal Uruguayan yerba in a smaller pack - all the more reason for anyone looking for new and interesting flavours in the world of yerba to give it a try.
Besides finely cut Paraguayan holly leaves, the blend contains a generous addition of herbs: chamomile, anise, fennel, lemon verbena and carqueja.
If you like blends in which the herbs (additives) play a clear, noticeable part, you have come to the right place. Armino Compuesta con hierbas has an interesting herbal, light and pleasant aroma, in which anise and fennel play a major role.
But let's get to the most important thing: the flavour. From the start the infusion hits you with a rich bouquet, in which yerba bitterness with light astringency is a key element, along with noticeable tea-like and herbal notes and an interesting creaminess. The herbs are clearly present but do not upset the balance of flavours: it is not overly herbal, nor are the herbs just a distant background, as sometimes happens in Uruguayan-type yerbas.
Alongside El Moncayo, Rei Verde Compuesta, Del Cebador and La Selva, it is among the very best blends of this type. On top of that, it delivers an above-average energy boost that keeps you going through physical or mental work for a long time. As befits a solid Uruguayan yerba, it also has a very high yield, so a standard load (40-50 g) will take more than a litre of water without any noticeable loss of flavour.
