Opis produktu
Yerba mate Ajedrez Despalada 500 g
One of three yerbas from the Ajedrez brand - so far we have had the chance to try the Tradicional (traditional) and Premium versions. Now it is time for the new, very leafy (min. 90%) Despalada, with beautiful-looking leaves, a small admixture of stems and almost no dust.
Ajedrez Despalada is labelled as an Uruguayan-style yerba, although for us Europeans that style is associated with a somewhat different cut, where the leaves are ground much more finely.
The dry leaves have a dry, strongly nutty and grainy, hay-like scent reminiscent of campfire smoke. The aroma is undoubtedly quite intense and interesting. This may be partly because the leaves are naturally aged for 2 years after traditional processing.
The infusion has a distinct flavour and effect practically from the first pour, delivering a fantastic experience over many hours of mate drinking. You will find plenty of bitterness and astringency, a drying sensation on the tongue, light acidity and earthiness, and woody and grainy notes. After a while, hints of black tea and light smokiness appear too. It is undoubtedly a long-lasting yerba, as it easily withstands refill after refill while you enjoy an intense infusion.
In terms of energy, it is definitely one of the strongly stimulating ones and can be an interesting alternative to, for example, Andresito Despalada or Taragui sin palo.
If you like Argentinian yerbas in this style, you simply have to try it!
