Erva Mate Parana Padrao Argentina 500 g
The latest yerba from a respected Brazilian brand, Erva Mate Parana, owned by Danilo Benke. This time it is a Brazilian yerba, but prepared and cut in the Argentinian style - which is why the blue and white colour of the pack is no coincidence!
The paper pack has a fairly simple but charming design and protects the contents well, so you can be sure the yerba will keep its aroma and flavour intense for a long time. Of course, there is also the brand's motto, the Latin carpe diem, which appears on all of its yerbas.
When you open the pack, you are greeted by a fairly intense aroma dominated by grassy, algae-like, grainy, nettle and tea-like notes. The intensity suggests a yerba with character and a solid stimulating kick. In aroma and cut it is quite similar to Barao in the Argentinian style, although Barao is greener and grassier than this yerba from Parana.
The yerba in this version is nicely cut: large pieces of deep green leaves with some stems and a minimal amount of dust. It is fair to say that it looks attractive and invites you to try it straight away.
The infusion is fairly intense from the start, with plenty of bitterness and astringency interwoven with algae-like, grassy, nettle and tea-like notes. There are no smoky or heavy notes; instead you get an astringent aftertaste on the tongue, a light creaminess and grainy notes. Overall, its flavour is reminiscent of Verdelandia Terere Pura Folha - an exceptionally successful yerba. With each refill the infusion gains strength and intensity, delivering an above-average dose of energy.
Erva mate Parana Padrao Argentina also offers a very good yield: a standard load of about 50 g will take at least a litre of water, giving you a stimulating, bold and long-lasting infusion for many hours of mate drinking.
The Erva Mate Parana brand is a small family business growing and producing Paraguayan holly on a small scale. Its products have rarely been available in Poland until now, so it is worth taking the opportunity to try this excellent product made with passion and love.
