Opis produktu
Erva Mate Fontana Pura Folha 1000 g
The history of the Fontana brand begins as early as 1834 with its founder Francisco Fontana, who came from Italy. From there he emigrated to Uruguay, where he worked as a merchant selling, among other things, yerba. Over time he settled permanently in Brazil, where he opened his own company and Erva mate plantation. Many years ago the yerba was aged in wine barrels; today the focus is on natural ageing.
More fun facts: the brand was awarded a gold medal at international fairs in Paris by the jury of the National Society of Industrial Science and Art in 1890 and 1892.
To this day it is a family company that remains in the hands of Mr Fontana's descendants. In a pack of Fontana Erva mate you will find mainly leaves, mostly fairly finely cut, with a small admixture of slightly coarser ones and a small share of fine stems. The yerba has an intense green colour with hints of grey and yellow.
According to the manufacturer, Fontana yerba mate reaches its best flavour between 10 and 14 months after production/packaging. At that point it should delight with a wealth of flavours and aromas. Just remember to store it in a dry, well-ventilated place.
Back to its character: the aroma is fairly intense and bold, with a noticeable smoky and grainy accent. An extremely intriguing combination.
In the infusion you will find light grassiness, bitterness and astringency. It is one of those yerbas whose flavour evolves and becomes much more intense with each refill. Besides the flavours mentioned, there is no shortage of smoky and grain notes, a slight sweetness and a salty aftertaste. To some extent it resembles the flavours of Alvorada Tradicional or Terra Mate Pura Folha.
In terms of longevity and stimulating effect it is above average. The yerba holds up extremely well to repeated pours, delivers a solid energy boost and undoubtedly ranks among the very best in its category.
Fontana Erva mate is definitely an option for lovers of classic varieties with more substantial flavour and intensity, as well as for people who are not put off by finely ground yerba. Preparing this yerba may be tricky for some because of how finely the leaves are cut.
We tested it during one of our live streams and it caught our eye straight away, so we ordered a larger quantity and are adding it to our range. We are sure you will like it too.
