Uruguayan-style yerba mate - produced in Brazil
Not everyone may know this, but Uruguay mostly outsources production to Brazil, where mate is prepared for the Uruguayan market. The Tipo PU1 variety is a Uruguayan-type mate that is quite demanding, but it rewards you with a bold, long-lasting flavour and a high yield. It is intended for the Uruguayan market, the world's largest importer of yerba mate.
An unusual combination of Argentine and Brazilian mate characteristics
PU1-type varieties, i.e. those produced in Brazil for the Uruguayan market, offer an interesting combination of flavours. They have features typical of Argentine mate as well as of mate from Brazil: a noticeable bitterness and acidity, as well as freshness, creaminess and vegetal notes. The result is an interesting mix of flavours that will appeal to those looking for a change from the Argentine or Paraguayan mate they have been drinking so far.
Sara Tradicional offers a high yield and consists mainly of finely ground leaves, a good amount of dust and a minimal amount of stems. This makes it a fairly demanding mate, so you can't do without the so-called mound. Otherwise, you may have trouble enjoying the taste of this variety. Also worth mentioning is the very solid stimulating effect that comes straight from the infusion.
Due to the fine cut and the large amount of dust, we don't recommend this mate to those just taking their first steps in the rich world of yerba mate. We recommend it to more experienced drinkers and those looking for new taste experiences. They certainly won't be disappointed with Sara.
