Yerba mate Lapacho Rosa Tradicional 500 g
A classic Argentinian yerba from the province of Misiones, but with a slight Paraguayan edge. In the case of Lapacho Rosa, do not let the pink pack fool you - some may be misled into thinking it is a delicate, mild yerba, but nothing could be further from the truth!
A niche plantation (Establecimiento San Nicolas) that uses a traditional drying method with eucalyptus wood, which gives it a characteristic taste and aroma. Add to that natural ageing lasting 24 months, and the result is bound to be a success. The production process itself is meticulously supervised to guarantee the highest possible quality.
The name of the yerba is linked to the history of a Lapacho tree that remained (grew) among the Paraguayan holly on the plantation - hence the name Lapacho Rosa.
In a pack of Lapacho Rosa you will find leaves that are fairly finely ground for the Argentinian style, some medium-sized stems and quite a lot of dust. When you open the pack, you can smell a campfire, light smokiness, cereal and woody notes - an extremely inviting aroma.
From the start, the infusion of this yerba offers concrete, intense flavours. The yerba bitterness and astringency are at a fairly high level - it will certainly never be boring. The flavour background is nicely complemented by smoky (tobacco), cereal and woody notes. It is undoubtedly a yerba that moves towards Paraguayan flavours, though only leaning slightly beyond Apostoles and the province of Misiones ;)
As for how long-lasting and energising it is, you can be sure it will give you the right level of power for a good few hours of mate drinking. The infusion stays highly intense for a long time - an extremely successful yerba.
