Yerba mate Itabo Menta Limon 500 g
A new blend from the Itabo brand that won our hearts straight away. Itabo yerba mate comes from the rainforest areas of the Alto Parana province, where conditions for growing Paraguayan holly are excellent. The right humidity and temperature mean that the leaves and stems in a pack of Itabo are rich in antioxidants and valuable nutrients.
The brand's main mission is to protect the natural environment that yerba comes from, which is why nature comes first in the production process. No agrochemicals or pesticides are used in cultivation. The resulting product is 100% organic and comes from the pristine areas of the Itabo Ecological Reserve in Puente Kyjha, Canindeyu.
Itabo Menta Limon, like the traditional version, is packed in a heat-sealed zip-lock bag to preserve its full flavour and aroma. On the outside, everything is protected by a cardboard box, so the contents will not get damaged in delivery. The inner zip-lock pack is a very good idea, as it keeps the yerba fresh after opening without having to transfer it to other boxes or containers.
The yerba itself is cut relatively fine, the leaves are fairly small, with some stems and a moderate amount of dust. Still, we can be sure that when we prepare it the traditional way (with a slope), it will cause us no trouble at all
As soon as you open the pack, an intense scent of lime and mint hits your nose. In terms of intensity, it is without doubt at the very top among flavoured versions of this kind with added aromas or oils.
The infusion also has a characteristic forest note, but of course it does not play the main role. Here the lime and mint flavour dominates. Combined with cold water and ice cubes, it makes a superb pairing. You can taste the astringency and bitterness typical of Paraguayan yerba, while the smoky notes are strongly softened by the cold water and the aromas used, which are not bothersome at all.
It is also worth mentioning that Itabo Menta Limon holds up to refills for a long time, and the characteristic refreshing citrus and mint flavour remains even after a litre of water has been poured through a standard serving (approx. 50 g).
The infusion provides an above-average energy boost and is an ideal choice for hot summer days, when it refreshes body and mind so they can function properly.
The cultivation and production process is rigorous and certified by USDA Organic and Ceres Certified.
