Yerba Mate Don Bosco Elaborada con palo 500 g
Another Argentine classic from the province of Misiones, produced artisanally using traditional methods, without mechanised cultivation, and in line with high standards. It can be called an organic mate without certification, which is quite a common practice. Companies prefer to spend the relatively large sums involved in certification on other needs, e.g. improving facilities for their workers.
The brand was named in honour of the priest San Juan Bosco, who devoted his life to young people, fighting poverty and helping those in need (the poor). He was the founder of the Salesian congregation in Argentina. So why this particular organisation and person?
Yerba mate Don Bosco is produced by an organisation/institution founded by the Salesians in 1927. As you can see, they have been producing it successfully to this day, and doing it very well!
After opening the pack, your nose is hit by the scent of meadow, wood and hay with a noticeable, slightly tobacco-like sharpness. Don Bosco Elaborada consists of medium and finely ground leaves of Paraguayan holly and a moderate amount of dust.
After pouring the leaves into the matero (mate gourd) and the first infusion, it's time to taste. From the first sip you get a pleasant bitterness, strongly woody with noticeable smoky notes, a hint of bread crust, astringency and a light sweetness. The flavour itself should be considered rich and complex, and it lingers for a long time.
An interesting mix of flavours that beautifully combines Argentina and Paraguay in terms of character, taste and aroma. Those looking for new taste experiences won't be disappointed with Don Bosco.
