Yerba Mate Arcoiris Te Verde y Limon 500 g
Another choice from a brand that is new to the Polish yerba mate market, straight from Paraguay. Its name, Arcoiris, means rainbow, which you can see in its logo. Here we have a strongly herbal and fruity blend with lemongrass, green tea, koku herb (Allophylus edulis) and lemon oil.
Arcoiris Te Verde y Limon grabs your attention almost as soon as you open it with its intense aroma, in which citrus comes to the fore. The blend is an interesting choice for cold preparation with ice cubes on hot summer days, but it works just as well brewed hot the classic way. The pack contains fairly finely cut yerba mate leaves and stems with a medium amount of dust.
As in the other versions, the herbal additions and oil neutralise the yerba bitterness quite strongly, so it should not bother even those taking their first steps in the rich world of yerba mate. One ingredient worth noting is koku herb, which Arcoiris also sells in smaller packs as a product used in herbal medicine. The plant has nothing to do with coca.
Koku is helpful for liver-related conditions; in South America the herb is used for hepatitis, liver cancer and cirrhosis. It also has a positive effect on the digestive system and stomach, aiding digestion. On top of that, it enriches the infusion with its aroma.
The blend has a strongly citrusy aroma and taste, making it one of the best choices for cold preparation currently available on our yerba market. Each ingredient can be tasted, so the flavour is varied, multi-layered and inimitable.
