Opis produktu
Yerba mate Ziran Tradicional 500 g
A new arrival from July 2024 and probably one of the biggest surprises thanks to its flavour and aroma, which is typical of roasted yerba mate (tostado). It is made by the company behind brands such as Ajedrez and Taihang. The first batch we received tasted slightly different from the latest one - is this change for the better?
Definitely yes, because the previous version was very distinctive and leaned towards roasted yerbas, which not everyone necessarily liked.
Inside the bag of this yerba from the town of Obera in the province of Misiones you will find medium-sized leaves mixed with stems and a small amount of dust. The cut does not differ significantly from other Argentinian yerbas we have imported to Poland and tested.
Nevertheless, the aroma and flavour of Ziran Tradicional can come as quite a surprise even to an experienced mate drinker. The scent of the leaf is strongly reminiscent of black tea or smoked plum. It can be described as exceptionally dry and unusual. This kind of aroma is more typical of roasted yerba mate than of a classic Argentinian yerba.
From the first pour Ziran delivers distinct flavours: the infusion is bold, strongly astringent, bitter, slightly smoky, nougat-like and smoked. Over time the flavour becomes more traditional and yerba-like, with grainy and woody notes coming through. There is also a light saltiness, without the strong coffee aftertaste of the previous (first) batch from 2024.
Ziran Tradicional offers an above-average energy boost and high efficiency. The current version is not as "coffee-like" as the previous one, but it still guarantees distinct flavour sensations for many hours.
