When you open the pack, an intense aroma hits the nose - slightly sharp, reminiscent of campfire smoke, with notes of walnut, wood and grain. Still, the aroma is not too heavy or smoky.
From the very first refill it has a solid, bold flavour that develops with each subsequent top-up. The infusion is characterised by noticeable bitterness and astringency, balanced by light smokiness, grainy-nutty notes and a light acidity. You will also find an astringent aftertaste on the tongue, woody notes, light creaminess and smokiness. There is undoubtedly a lot going on in the infusion, and the leaves are very long-lasting, keeping a high level of intensity for many hours of mate drinking.
