Another Uruguayan-style option whose quality is confirmed by the relevant certificates, i.e. USDA Organic, Organico Brasil, Eco Cert and the European certificate number BR - BIO - 154 for products originating in Brazil and placed on the EU market.
What sets it apart?
It consists mainly of finely cut leaves with an intense green-grey colour; the amount of stems is minimal, as is the amount of dust. Given how finely it is ground, a so-called mound is welcome when preparing it, otherwise drinking may be slightly difficult.
The dry leaf has a fairly intense aroma: you can smell hay as well as woody, grassy and grain-nutty notes. A remarkably interesting experience for the nose.
How does Yacuy Organic taste?
As befits a Uruguayan-style cut, the flavours are interestingly layered, as the infusion offers many intriguing notes. Leading the way are astringency and bitterness, broken by a mouth-drying finish on the tongue with noticeable acidity and light smokiness. In the background, grain and nutty notes and a slight saltiness make themselves known. Interestingly, creaminess is minimal or almost completely imperceptible, which may come as a surprise.
Yacuy Super Extra Tipo PU-1 differs significantly from the previously known version in the green packaging. In my opinion, the organic version has a much more intense flavour in the infusion, as well as a more complex taste and greater longevity. The blend delivers a considerable energy boost, so it will certainly appeal to lovers of classics with an above-average effect.
Everything is packed in a bag and then a cardboard box, so we can be sure of the intense aroma and flavour contained in the finely cut leaves of Paraguayan holly.
