An Argentinian treat from a small plantation in the province of Misiones, with a fantastic flavour and a highly efficient leaf.
The packaging has an exceptionally simple design and at first glance looks like a bag of flour, but don't let appearances fool you - this is an above-average yerba. As soon as you open the bag, you are hit by a fairly intense aroma dominated by smoky, woody and grainy-nutty notes with a light hay-like touch.
The leaf is nicely cut, with thicker pieces of leaves mixed with medium-sized stems and a small amount of dust. Productos de la Chacra, which loosely translates as "farm products", is a yerba with a homely, rustic character. It is far from bland and delivers distinct flavours, so you can tell almost immediately whether it suits your taste or not. And I am sure you will like it as much as I do!
What shapes its character? Two important things: the traditional drying method known as Barbacua and natural ageing of the leaf for 2 years. This is how the aroma and flavour of the yerba mature, and the result is an excellent Argentinian yerba.
From the first sip the infusion is bitter and astringent, slightly tart and smoky. It leaves a drying aftertaste on the tongue, with grainy and woody notes and a light sweetness in the background, so you can say with full confidence that this infusion is never boring.
The bitterness and astringency grow stronger with each refill, and the drying aftertaste on the palate lingers for quite a long time, encouraging further refills and sips. It is without doubt a yerba that holds up to many refills, guaranteeing hours of mate drinking and delivering a solid energy boost.
