Opis produktu
Uruguayan-style yerba mate - produced in Brazil
Once again we are exploring the Uruguayan side of the yerba world.
This time we come across another Uruguayan-style classic, i.e. Tipo PU-1. Erva (yerba) mate Paisana has a distinctive logo showing a woman on a galloping horse. That does not surprise us much, because after a few infusions you will need to put that energy to use somewhere. Horse riding could be one way to do it :)
However, looks are not that important - let us focus instead on what is inside the pack. As befits a yerba of this type, it is very finely cut, with a minimal amount of stems and a moderate amount of dust.
Before pouring the water, it is always worth assessing the aroma. Paisana has a mild herbal, slightly nutty and grassy scent, broken up by a minimal sharpness and smokiness. It smells inviting...
Having learnt from previously tested Uruguayan-style counterparts, I decided to fill the gourd only just over halfway. It was a good choice, as the leaves were definitely not so eager to escape from the matero :)
The first infusions of Paisana Tradicional are very promising: a not-too-heavy bitterness, gentle astringency, grassy and herbal (wheaty) notes and a mouth-drying finish on the tongue. On top of that, a light creaminess, a sweetness reminiscent of biscuits (sponge biscuits) and a subtle salty accent associated with umami.
Drinkability and body are at a very high level. After pouring more than 1 l of water through a relatively small serving (approx. 35 g), the flavour is still intense. It must also be said that Paisana is a #yerbamate that gives a solid energy boost. Of those we have tested recently, it probably performed best in this respect.
What else can be said about it? It is simply a very good yerba. If you are looking for new flavours, it is definitely worth adding to your basket - you will not regret it.
