An exceptionally rich Brazilian chimarrao from the Meta Mate brand. It is grown by the Fonseca family, known for high-quality products made in harmony with nature. It has a distinctive aroma and smoky aftertaste thanks to the traditional drying method, which gives it character; the harvest dates from January 2025. The product is vacuum-packed, so it keeps its freshness, the beautiful colour of the leaves and its unique flavour and aroma.
Meta Mate Moida Fina Barbacua "Fonseca" is a tasty chimarrao with a complex flavour, very close to another well-known but unavailable blend from this brand, Leafy Melody. In this case, however, we have a finely ground yerba, which requires a so-called bomba - a bombilla with a flattened round filter with small holes that make filtering easier and let you savour this excellent yerba mate from Brazil.
Apart from very finely ground leaves, the blend also contains some stems, which make it easier to prepare and drink without problems. Still, the leaves dominate the overall composition. What can we say about its flavour and aroma? When you open the pack, you can smell grassiness, freshness and an intriguing smokiness.
The flavour of this chima is interestingly structured: we can taste vegetal notes, astringency, slight bitterness and a smoky note reminiscent of paprika, smoked ham or bacon. As befits an excellent chimarrao, it is extremely long-lasting and rich. There is also a creaminess, and over time a salty note associated with umami. The smokiness neither neutralises nor overpowers the other notes and nuances, so we can enjoy this exceptional chima for hours.
