Yerba Mate Rojo Tradicional 500 g in a tin
A classic from the town of Oberá in the province of Misiones, Argentina. It is produced by Molinos La Misión SA, a company founded by the son of Ukrainian immigrants, Don Juan Eladio Stepaniuk. One of the cornerstones of the Rojo brand is the natural ageing of the yerba mate leaves and stems. The process is not accelerated in any way - for this mate it takes 18 months, during which it develops a deeper flavour. Thanks to respecting the natural ageing process, the mate is tastier, smoother and less acidic. Besides the flavour, two other things matter as well: the beautiful aroma and the colour of the leaves are preserved.
In this case, besides the yerba itself, which is among the very high-quality options, you also get a metal tin (yerbera) with a dispenser, so you can keep your mate in one place after opening and easily pour the desired amount into your chosen gourd. This way the yerba will not lose its freshness, and you can make further servings without making a mess. The yerbera features interesting motifs closely linked to the province of Misiones and the town of Oberá, with green accents matching this type of yerba.

Mate Rojo Tradicional offers a pleasant, light bitterness, an astringent effect on the tongue, a delicate hint of plum, woody notes and no smokiness at first (when brewed at a lower temperature). Over time, a light astringency and smokiness appear, which makes it really tasty!
In terms of energy it can be considered solid, comparable to other classic Argentinian varieties. However, what sets it apart from other yerbas from this country is its quality and flavour.
