Something for lovers and collectors of linen yerba mate bags, this time from a well-established brand in our shop, Mate Rojo from Argentina. Until now it was only available in a paper pack.
The yerba comes from the town of Oberá in the province of Misiones, Argentina. Produced by Molinos La Misión SA, a company founded by the son of Ukrainian immigrants, Don Juan Eladio Stepaniuk. One of the foundations of the Rojo brand is the natural seasoning of Paraguayan holly leaves and stems. The process is not accelerated in any way, and for this mate it takes as long as 24 months, which gives it depth of flavour. Thanks to respecting the natural ageing process, the mate is tastier while also smoother and less acidic. Besides flavour, two other things matter: the beautiful aroma and the colour of the leaves are preserved.
By buying Mate Rojo Seleccion Especial you get a high-quality mate; it can definitely be called a premium product. The pack contains selected medium-sized leaves and stems with a moderate amount of dust. What characterises this tasty rarity? Above all, a beautiful aroma noticeable right after opening the pack, as well as a delicate sweetness of the infusion and a noticeable bitterness, but not too strong or heavy, one could say moderate, so it can be confidently chosen not only by experienced lovers of Paraguayan holly, but also by those just taking their first steps in the world of yerba mate.
In terms of energy, it can be considered solid, comparable to other traditional Argentinian mates (Tradicional), but what sets it apart from other varieties from this country is its quality and flavour. A rich bouquet of flavour, noticeable plant notes and moderate acidity, plus a pleasant bitterness.
In this version it is available in limited quantities; a standard version in a paper pack is also available.
