Yerba mate Maravilla Tradicional Agroecologica 500 g
Another Barbacua-type yerba in our range, this time from Maravilla. It is naturally aged for 18 to 24 months, during which it gains additional flavour qualities. This is undoubtedly an artisanal product, where every stage of cultivation and subsequent processing is based on traditional methods. Production itself is limited to ensure the highest possible quality of the final product.
Maravilla Tradicional is characterised by an intense smoked flavour resulting from the traditional Barbacua drying method, in which a blast of hot air from a furnace fired with aromatic wood reaches the leaves directly, giving them their specific aroma and flavour.
No artificial (chemical) pesticides are used in its cultivation, only natural fertilisers - hence the name Agroecologica, i.e. agroecological yerba. Although it does not hold an organic certificate, it is unquestionably a top-shelf yerba product.
In the pack you will find both fairly coarsely cut and more finely ground grey-green leaves with an admixture of medium-sized stems and a moderate amount of dust.
From the moment you open it, a bold smoked aroma hits your nose, which personally reminds me of smoked fish or smoked paprika. The aroma also has woody and grainy notes with a light smoky touch.
This heralds an extraordinary yerba, and that is exactly what Maravilla Agroecologica is! From the first sip the smoky flavour makes itself strongly felt; the infusion is slightly fishy, with plenty of bitterness and astringency. Add to that its malty finish, which rounds off the flavour of the infusion superbly. After a while you can also pick up tea-like, woody and grainy notes, and its flavour gains depth with each refill.
It delivers a very solid energy boost and a wealth of flavour for many pleasant hours spent in its company.
