Opis produktu
Yerba Mate Libre Tradicional PU-1 1000 g
A classic yerba from Brazil made for the Uruguayan market (export), available in an economy pack. Not everyone may know this, but Uruguay mostly outsources production to Brazil, where mate for the Uruguayan market is prepared. Inside the distinctive red and white pack you will find only Paraguayan holly, with no additives. In general, Tipo PU1 varieties, i.e. Uruguayan-type mate, are fairly demanding, but they reward you with a bold and long-lasting flavour - here with interesting herbal notes in the background and a beautiful aroma. In this case, though, you can also see a share of slightly larger leaves than in similar products from del Cebador, Sara or Canarias.
Uruguayan varieties, i.e. those produced in Brazil for the Uruguayan market, offer an interesting combination of flavours. They combine features typical of Argentinian mate and of mate from Brazil.
Libre Tradicional has a fairly intense and interesting aroma. Malty, woody, grassy and seaweed notes dominate, along with an aroma reminiscent of dried straw. The blend consists mainly of finely ground leaves with some slightly larger pieces, a moderate amount of dust and a minimal amount of stems (about 1%). Because of this, it is a fairly demanding mate that needs a so-called slope (a mound of leaves in the gourd). Otherwise, you may have trouble enjoying the flavour of this variety. The intensity and bitterness are pleasantly complemented by herbal notes, resulting in an interesting balance.
The infusion has a rich and complex flavour that reveals new, interesting nuances and notes with every refill. We get the flavours typical of this type of yerba: a light creaminess (sweetness), woody and vegetal notes and, interestingly, plenty of saltiness associated with umami. It starts fairly light and mild, but over time the infusion gains intensity and strength.
Libre in its traditional version guarantees many hours of mate drinking with a very good Uruguayan yerba mate.
Due to how finely the leaves are ground and the large amount of dust, we do not recommend this mate to those just taking their first steps in the rich world of yerba mate. We recommend it to more experienced drinkers and those looking for new taste experiences.
