A light, herbal mate from Argentina whose packaging reads "the taste that draws you in". The producer, don Arregui, leaves us no choice, so we simply have to give in to the temptation.
La Posesiva is a blend of fairly coarsely cut yerba mate leaves and stems with a bouquet of herbs, including mint, peppermint, lemon verbena and poleo. The leaves look excellent and invite you to fill your vessel and pour in the water right away.
It is produced by don Arregui, a company whose range includes numerous herbal blends, one of which is already available on our website, with another coming within the next few days.
Thanks to its mildness and delicacy, this mate is definitely meant for lovers of lighter yerba styles, both in terms of stimulation and the overall intensity of the infusion. When you open the pack, you can sense the freshness and aroma of the herbs; the scent is delicate and unobtrusive.
As for the taste, the added herbs effectively balance out the bitterness, and the infusion is very subtle and delicate with a noticeable herbal presence, especially of poleo and peppermint.
We have not tried it cold, but I would bet dollars to donuts that it is much better cold. Especially on hot summer days, when it will refresh body and mind and help you relax.
To sum up, la Posesiva is an undemanding option for easy-going days or afternoons, with a very moderate effect and a very mild taste. Recommended especially for those trying mate for the first time in their lives. In this case, the bitterness will certainly not discourage them from further exploring the rich world of Yerba mate
