Opis produktu
Yerba mate Katu Tradicional 500 g
A new arrival from Paraguay: a coarse-cut version without additions from the Tuka company, sold under the Katu brand. The packaging certainly catches the eye, but as always, what matters most is what is inside the pack :)
This is not a typical Paraguayan yerba, both in terms of how the leaves are cut/ground and in its aroma and flavour. In these respects Katu Tradicional is much closer to coarse-cut Argentinian yerbas - not without reason does the pack say "molienda gruesa", meaning coarsely ground.
When you open the pack, you will find large and medium leaf pieces with some stems and a small amount of dust. The cut is fairly coarse - as mentioned, more typically Argentinian than Paraguayan. The leaves are greenish-grey with a light aroma featuring grainy, woody, hay-like and tea notes. The aroma is gentle and does not hit the nose too hard.
Katu Tradicional is not particularly demanding to prepare - you can easily form a traditional mound and enjoy its flavour for a long time.
The infusion is pleasantly grainy, slightly tangy, woody and hay-like, with plenty of nutty notes (reminiscent of walnut or almond), as well as a quite distinct tea and malty note. The range of flavours spreads pleasantly across the palate, delivering interesting sensations and leaving an astringent aftertaste on the tongue. Bitterness and astringency are fairly mild at first, but grow stronger over time as the flavour develops and gains character and strength. Its taste is very similar to another Tuka product available in our shop.
It delivers a solid energy boost while holding up well to repeated refills, keeping a good level of flavour intensity and effect. It is undoubtedly an interesting choice for fans of slightly lighter yerbas without smoky or heavy notes. We recommend it at every stage of your adventure with Paraguayan holly.
